GOD, grant me
the Serenity
to accept the
things
I cannot change,
Courage to change
the
things I can,
and the Wisdom
to know the difference.
Living one day
at a time;
Enjoying one
moment at a time;
Accepting hardship
as the
pathway to peace.
Taking, as He
did, this
sinful world
as it is,
not as I would
have it.
Trusting that
He will make
all things right
if I
surrender to
His Will;
That I may be
reasonably happy
in this life,
and supremely
happy with Him
forever in
the next.
Amen
The Serenity Prayer 2
God, give us grace
to accept with serenity
the things that
cannot be changed,
courage to change
the things
which should
be changed,
and the wisdom
to distinguish
the one from
the other.
Living one day
at a time,
Enjoying one
moment at a time,
Accepting hardship
as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus
did,
This sinful world
as it is,
Not as I would
have it,
Trusting that
You will make all things right,
If I surrender
to Your will,
So that I may
be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely
happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
God's
Word Testifies about the Greatest Peace Officer
In
fulfillment of prophecy (Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 9:6, etc.), Jesus Christ
- true God and true man - came from heaven to take on human flesh as his
uniform (John 1:1-18). He responded "lights and siren" to our need
for back-up (Galatians 4:4-7). Jesus arrived on the scene 2,000 years
ago (Luke 2) and threw himself between us and history's ultimate bad guy,
Satan (Mark 1:12-13). He took the bullet that we had coming (Mark
15). His heroic sacrifice on the cross of Calvary rescued us from
the devil's own death sentence ( I Peter 2:22-25). Jesus' action
to protect and serve the whole world above and beyond the call of duty
makes him the greatest Peace Officer of all time (Revelation 5:5-14).
God the Father has awarded him the greatest Medal of Valor of all time
by raising him from the grave and seating him at his right hand in heaven
(Ephesians 1:20-22). Christ strengthens us (Ephesians 2:4-10, Colossians
1:13-23), and defends us against our accuser Satan (Zechariah 3, I John
2:1-2). One day he will return to gather everyone who believes in
him
(1
Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Peace
officers often feel isolated, alone, and under tremendous stress.
I had that feeling more than once during the years I have been a cop.
But here's the point: It takes one to know one. The greatest
Peace Officer of all time knows exactly what peace officers face, feel,
and need. He has "been there, done that, and bought the shirt" (Hebrews
2:14-18). Jesus Christ has met and will always meet your every need
(Romans 8:31-39).
