"FORGIVEN"
Grace is the kindness and favor of God
extended
to you. It is nothing you can
earn
or deserve. Grace is God saying to
you,
"You can do nothing to save
yourself;
there is no need to even
try
because I have done it all.
I
have given my Son to die for
you,
and He has made the
perfect
sacrifice for your sin.
COME
AND RECEIVE MY FREE GIFT"

Two
questions cops often
ask,
are answers: "Can a cop be
a
Christian?"...Acts 2:21,
Acts
10, Romans 13:1-7, Colossians 3:1-17.
Note:
The more important question is,
"With
all that officers face, how can
a
cop not be a Christian?"
God's
Word points out that law
enforcement
is a God-pleasing
profession,
and gives examples
of
godly peace officers like Cornelius.
"Why
does
God allow tragedy?"...Job
(see
Job's faith in 13:15 and 19:25-26),
John
9:1-3 (Note: We ask "why,"
but
the more important answer
is
"Who." Job suffered tremendous
tragedy.
Although he mourned and
complained
to God,
he
never lost hope in God.)
LOOKING
FOR
"SPIRITUAL
BACK-UP?"
The Bible,
also called the Scriptures,
also called
the Word of God, was written
by humans,
but inspired by the Spirit of
God.
Therefore, God's Word empowers us
both to
faith and life. There are 66
"books"
of the Bible. They were written
by many
different writers over a period
of about
1600 years, from about
1500 B.C.
to about 100 A.D.
Because
of divine inspiration (meaning
that God
is the author), they show a
remarkable
consistency. The Bible itself
tells
us its purpose and how we
should
read it. Therefore, its message
is the
same to everyone if we
humbly
listen in faith.
The main
purpose of the Bible is to
tell us
the true story of God's great
love for
us (John 3:16-17). God's love was
revealed
in the gift of his Son, our Lord
and Savior
Jesus Christ. "Lord" means
"Master."
"Savior" means he saved us
from our
sins and freely gives us eternal
life.
"Jesus" is the human name of our
Lord and
means "God Saves." "Christ
is another
word for "Messiah"
and means
"God's Anointed
One."
This refers to Jesus' role as the
promised
Savior of the world.
Because
Jesus is God's one and only
Son, he
is true God himself. Because
Jesus
was born by God of the Virgin
Mary,
he is also true man. Only as a true
man could
he die on the cross to take
upon himself
the punishment we deserved
for our
rebellion against God. Only as true
God could
he take away the sins of the
whole
world by his redeeming death.
"Redeem"
means
"to buy
back." In this case it
means
that God bought back
his helpless
children from the
clutches
of sin and Satan by the
blood
of Jesus. Thus, Jesus is
also twice;
first by creation,
and then
again by redemption.
Our eternal
life depends solely upon
the undeserved
kindness of God
received
through faith, as revealed by
the Spirit
of God through Scripture.
The Word
of God is divided into two main
sections
called the Old and New
Testaments.
The Old Testament was
written
before Christ was born by Moses, the
prophets
and other spiritual leaders
of Israel
(like King David and King
Solomon).
The Old Testament
tells
the story of our creation
and fall
into sin, and the troubled
journey
of God's people - Israel.
Each
of God's prophets details
our need
for the promised Messiah,
who would
come to save not just Israel
, but
the whole world from sin.
The New
Testament, written by Jesus'
apostles
after he returned to his
Father
in heaven, tells the story
of Jesus'
life and the start of the
Christian
Church. It relates God's
promises,
first made in the Old
Testament
in the Book of Genesis,
and continues
on to their final
fulfillment
when Christ returns
again.
Both testaments contain
God's
Law (his commands) and
his Gospel
(the "Good News"
of his
promises and the life he offers).
May you
find back-up for all your
spiritual
needs in the pages of
God's
Word.
Psalm 103
tells us that God has
removed
our sins from us as far
as the
east is from the west.
By God's
example, forgiveness
means
forgetting, or in
other
words, forgiveness means
"remembering
to forget."
As God
has shown His grace towards
us we
should also do so to others.
"My grace
is sufficient for you
for my
power is perfect
in weakness."
2 Corinthians
12:9
"I am the
light of the world
Whoever
follows me
will never
walk in darkness
but will
have the light of life."
John 8:12
"We are
the barbed wire
that separates
the sheep
from the
wolves."
Peace
officers are society's shepherds.
They
protect and serve us in many
ways.
In their most important
role,
they guard society's sheep
from society's
wolves. Both
God and
the State call upon these
brave
officers to defend us.
They
even have the duty to use
reasonable
force if necessary,
including
deadly force if needed.
In their
challenging "barbed wire"
role,
officers need God's tempering
truth,
from which the steel of
strong
law and life are formed.
Otherwise
they also become
violators
or victims. God - given
truth
gives the "wire" its strength.
The Bible
- the book God uses to speak
to people-
reveals his eternal truth to
everyone,
including peace officers.
God'
Word addresses humanity's sin
and suffering,
a condition officers
see every
day that requires their
constant
presence - affecting them too.
It
lays the foundation for the
law that
officers enforce. It outlines
the importance,
authority,
and mission
of law enforcement. It
tells
real life stories of
cops -
stories that apply to our lives
today.
It provides spiritual protection,
power,
and peace in the face of
temptation,
trials, and trouble.
Most of
all, God's Word tells
the true
storyof history's ultimate Peace
Officer,
Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd
who laid
down his life to protect and
serve
everyone - including peace
officers
- including you.
