God's Word Is For Today
"God's Word is living and active"
(Hebrews 4:12).  Like an emergency radio
broadcast, the Bible warns us to be on the
lookout for the devil who "is prowling
around" ( 1 Peter 5:8).  The Scriptures brief
us to "be careful, brothers and sisters,
that none of you ever develop a wicked,
unbelieving heart that turns away from the
living God" (Hebrews 3:12-15).  Today
God's Word urges an immediate response
to this emergency, "Listen, now is God's
acceptable time!  Now is the day of
salvation!"   (II Corinthians 6:2).  Today we
need to confess to Christ, "Lord, to what
person could we go?  Your words give
eternal life" (John 6:68).  Here and now and
only in the pages of God's Spirit - inspired
book can we find and prove evidence of
lasting "love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self - control"
(Galatians 5:22-23).
 God's timeless Word is for all of us today.

God's Word Breathes Life
God's law is perfect.  So, too, is his love.
As a result of his great love, he has
revealed to us the way of life.  He sent
his Son, Jesus Christ, who took on himself
the death sentence we deserved
(Isaiah 53).  In him we can be
confident of eternal life (Titus 1:1-2).
 He is the great Peace Officer - our
"Good Shepherd" (Psalm 23, John 10:1-18)
In Scripture Jesus says, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life.  No one goes to
the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
 We should not regard Jesus' claim
as unreasonable or too exclusive because
his words and actions are those of a
rescuer who carries us from the fire
through the only door of escape
(Zechariah 3:2).  A person trapped
by the flames will not be so narrow -
minded as to think the only way of escape
is too narrow.  That person will instead
gladly be saved, and will furthermore be
eternally grateful to the rescuer.
The whole world is kidnapped and held
hostage by Satan in the fast - approaching
flames of sin, with only one way of escape.
 No self - righteousness, no other faith, no
religious or moral or civil works, no
philosophy, no psychology, and nothing
else can save us except our Savior, Jesus.
 Inadequate human ideas shout out the
self - help, dead - ends of "Do!"  But in the
Gospel of Jesus Christ (Gospel means
Good News), our Savior conducts the
greatest hostage rescue of history,
gathers us in his arms, and announces
"DONE!"  (Romans 5:6-11)

The message of Christianity - as
revealed in God's Word - is unique
(John 3:16).  This message proclaims that
because of what Jesus did on the cross, we
have the FREE gift of eternal life.  We need
to go his way.  We need to listen to his truth.

 We need to receive the life he offers.
There is a "free lunch" of eternal life,
ours for the taking, simply by faith
(Luke 14:15-24, Revelation 19:9).
 Although it's free, it did not come cheap.
 This banquet of eternal blessings was
bought and paid for by God with his
Son's blood as the ransom price
(Revelation 7:13-17).

God's Grace Erases Regrets
You can't atone for the regrets by suffering
or by rationalizing them away.  The only
way is to turn to God and understand
that His grace knows no boundaries.
 He offers the love, understanding,
compassion and yes, grace only a
parent can offer their child.  Come to
your Father and receive His gift.
 The gift of Grace.

impact of attitude on life.  Attitude,
to me, is more important than facts.  It is
more important than the past, than
education, than money, than
circumstances, than failures, than
success, than what other people think
or say or do.  It is more important than
appearance, giftedness or skill.  It will
make or break a company...a
church...a home.   The remarkable thing
is we have a choice every day regarding
the attitude we will embrace for that day.
 We can not change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play the one
string we have, and that is our attitude...
I am convinced that life is 10% what
happens to me and 90% how I react to it."

(Psalm 119:105)
Remember, the Bible addresses humanity's
sin and suffering - a condition officers
see every day  that requires their constant
presence - affecting them too.  It lays the
foundation for the law that officers enforce.
  It outlines the importance, authority,
and mission of law enforcement.
 It tells real life stories of cops- stories
that apply to our lives today.  It provides
spiritual protection, power, and peace
in the face of temptation, trials and
trouble.  It speaks to our situations as
husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, friends,
"sinner saints," etc..  Most of all, God's
Word tells the true story of history's
ultimate Peace Officer, Jesus Christ,
who laid down His life "to protect and
serve" everyone - including peace
officers - including you.
