THE RED OAK POLICE DEPARTMENT
CITIZEN PATROL
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
SINCE 1992

The Red Oak Citizens Patrol was formed in October of 1992, when a rash of vandalism occurred through the city.  Chief Dennis Steffensen and Lt. Steve Cleland were instrumental in organizing the program, in 1992.

Under the direction of the Red Oak Police Department, teams of volunteers patrol the city in their own vehicles at various assigned times.  They keep in contact with the Police Department dispatcher in the event they see suspicious activities/persons.  They are not allowed to be involved in any of the Police
Departments affairs.  They act as eyes and ears for the Department and report as needed, and then move to another area.

Although interest has lessened, there is still a dedicated group of members who report monthly for their assigned 2 hour shift.  More volunteers are greatly needed.  A higher number of volunteers can help the Police Department in their efforts to curb crime, answer higher priority calls and make Red Oak a safer place to raise our families and operate our businesses.  If you have ever thought of participating in a positive organization that will make a lasting contribution to your community, this is it!

The Red Oak Citizens Patrol and the Red Oak Police Department, salute those who have served before and those who continue to serve their community.  Your contributions have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.  You have made a difference! Thank you for your continued support to the community, the program and the Police Department.
